Our Services
Day Care
The North Louth Branch Alzheimer Society Dundalk established a Day Care Centre called "The Birches" 1st June 2000. It is a purpose built facility for those people who have been diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease.
"The Birches" Day Care Centre is open 5 days a week from 9am to 5pm and offers a wide - ranging array of care.
The ethos of care is centred on the person attending by providing care in a holistic manner that not only addresses the person's physical needs, but also their spiritual and emotional needs. It is a place of safety and serenity.
Home Care
This service was set up December 2002 in answer to a need in the community for help at home for carers who have a family member suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.
The service is available seven days a week and is provided by fully trained carers.
The ethos of the service is one of holistic care meeting the needs of the family as well as that of the person suffering from Alzheimer's Disease.
Family Support Group
The Support Group has been running for the past six years.
It is held on the first Tuesday of each month in "The Birches" Day Care Centre Priorland Road, Dundalk at 7pm.
The aim of the group is to provide a support network where people have an understanding of the difficulties of the family carer. Only someone who has walked the same road can really understand how and what the family carer is dealing with.
Respite Care
This service is offered in St. Oliver’s Hospital and in local Nursing Homes. The North Louth Branch of the Alzheimer’s Society work in a spirit of partnership with the relevant staff in each area to provide all round care for those suffering with Alzheimer’s Disease and Alzheimer related Dementia.
This service provides a period of a week to two weeks break for the families, by caring for their loved ones.
