How Apples help fight Alzheimer's

Apples can protect brain cells against Alzheimer's and other neurological disorders researchers have found.

This is because they guard against oxidative stress,a tissue-damaging process associated with such conditions.

After tests on rats at Cornell University,New York,Professor Chang Yong Lee said 'French apples may be among the best food choices for fighting Alzheimer's.'

The compound is mainly found in fruit's skin and red apples have the most antitoxidant.The research will appear in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry.
